Mater Collects is a platform selling work directly from the studio of some of the most exciting artists exploring the world of materials. This debut collection features a number of works made exclusively for Mater Collects, including multiples, works on paper, vases, bowls, and sculptures.
Mater was launched at the beginning of 2022 as a research project and digital space, to explore materials through the eyes of artists and researchers. Supported using public funding from Arts Council England, Mater commissioned 15 artists, writers, geographers, curators, seed keepers and more, to explore their research into materials. The project has grown to include live conversations with speakers such as Esther Leslie, and research texts by Jussi Parikka, Nolan Oswald Dennis, Dr Jareh Das among others. A percentage of all Mater Collects sales will go towards the commissioning of exclusive and groundbreaking new texts for Mater.
